We are proud to share our journey that is Garbatella Osteria Bar. This is the first US-based concept from husband-wife duos Saul Plata and Carelma Rodriguez, and Antonio Luiu and Diana Gonzalez. Garbatella Osteria in Otay Ranch is the coming together of cultures, of travels, and of a lifetime of experiences. The Italian menu is crafted to reflect the authentic Italian flavors of Chef Antonio’s childhood with recipes he has loved and cooked for decades.

We are thrilled to call Chula Vista home and root ourselves here. Again, benvenuti, welcome, to Garbatella Osteria Italian restaurant.

Who We Are

Garbata + Bella

The Garbatella Osteria team is thrilled to open their first US restaurant in Chula Vista. Garbatella is an homage to the history and Chef Antonio’s home. It is not only the name of his old neighborhood in Rome, but it is also translated to “Humble” (Garbata) “Beauty” (Bella)—a name they saw fitting. The Garbata team selected the Otay Ranch neighborhood after watching its growth, and admiring the family and community values of the area. Garbata Osteria Bar is thrilled to finally be opening and sharing the love for food, family and gathering with the residents of Chula Vista.

Guests can expect delicious, authentic Italian dishes for every meal of the day. Garbatella Osteria Bar will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. It features an imported Italian wood-fire oven, full bar and plenty of space for private events. Daily Italian coffee, breads and pastries will also be served at the connected cafe. Garbatella Osteria Italian restaurant is located in the Otay Ranch Town Center.
